what are we to do
what's happened can't be undone 
hearts once cut must change 

forward lies the narrow gate  
walk through to abundant life

green light at corner 
a well executed turn 
exhilaration 

gratitude for little things 
the treasures of a happy life

salt without flavor 
hearts unchanged by baptism 
leave cities darkened 

good deeds performed in the dark  
brings light to those without hope

gates are wide open 
not that they can stop the sun 
from coming over 

such are the events of life -  
ready or not they’re coming

a window of leaves

letting go – and becoming

a blanket of leaves

refusing to go – won’t change

the natural course of life
